Rainier Industries To Invest $2 Million and Create 25 New Jobs at Statesville Facility
Seattle-based Rainier Industries today announced it will be opening a 220,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Statesville (N.C.). The facility will be located at the site formerly occupied by Glen Raven on US 70, one mile east of I-77. The company is making an initial capital investment of $2 million and will create 25 new jobs over the next year, with additional growth anticipated in the future. According to CEO Scott Campbell, “Almost all of future growth will be in North Carolina; we have run out of space here (Seattle).”
Established in 1896, Rainier originally provided tents and camping supplies for prospectors headed north for the Alaskan Gold Rush. Today, Rainier has evolved into a diverse manufacturer of a variety of products including yurts, tents, awning & screen systems, industrial fabric products as well as sports, retail and trade show graphics to regional, national and Fortune 500 companies.
“This facility will be state of the art – capable of producing all our existing and future product lines,” states Campbell. “And Statesville has a great pool of experienced manufacturing talent for us to draw from as we continue our growth.”
"We are pleased to have a company like Rainier choose Statesville for their east coast operations," said Michael Smith, Executive Director of Statesville Regional Development. "They have been a success for 116 years, and we know they will find continued success here in North Carolina." Smith also noted that the company further bolsters Statesville's reputation as a hub for manufacturers of outdoor products. "We are excited to see our Outdoor Recreation and Sporting Equipment sector grow again. With the addition of Rainier to existing sector manufacturers such as ThorLo, Firefly Balloons, USA Tactical Firearms, Badger Sportswear and Tube.tec, the Statesville Region is rapidly becoming a destination for companies serving that growing market."
Renovation and up-fitting of the facility will begin immediately with production scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2013.
